January
Basic Blacksmithing January 11, 2025 10:00am to 4:00pm
In this class you will learn the basics of blacksmithing. You will learn how to properly hammer, tools of the trade, how to draw and taper, and fire management. You will leave with several finished products, including an s-hook, j-hook, and a steak turner. This class lasts between 4-6 hours. All tools and materials are supplied. Please wear proper ppe and clothing. All students will need to sign a liability release waiver when you arrive. Class is size is limited to 4-6 students. Please bring safety glasses, wear 100 percent cotton clothing, and leather or cotton shoes. Please bring a lunch if you so choose. Water is provided. Cost of this class is 300.00 per student. Basic knifemaking January 25, 26, from 9:00am to 4:00 pm
In this class you will learn the basics of forging your own knife. We will start with a bar of 1075 steel and mold and shape it into a useable blade. You will also make a handle for this knife. We will go over basic forging principles, basic metallurgy, edge geometry, sharpening, handle shaping, and materials to use. All materials and tools are provided. Though no experience is required to take this class, it is advised to take the basic blacksmithing course before, but once again is not required. Please wear proper PPE and clothing. All students will need to sign a liability release waiver when you arrive. Class is size is limited to 4-6 students. Please bring safety glasses, wear 100 percent cotton clothing, and leather or cotton shoes. Please bring a lunch if you so choose, there is a pub about 3 miles from the shop that has pretty good food and we will break for lunch. Water is provided. Any one who wishes to cancel their class must do so 2weeks beforehand or you will not receive a refund as it may be difficult for me to find a replacement to fill the vacancy. Cost of this class is 500.00 per student
Forged Folder Class March
In this class we will forge a blade, and handle to make a friction folder. This is a intermediate class and you should have basic forging skills. In this class you will learn how I develop and design a folding knife. We will forge a blade to a template, and cut and forge a mild steel handle for the blade we forge. You will leave with a fully functional friction folder, with a unique forged finish. Please wear proper ppe and clothing. All students will need to sign a liability release waiver when you arrive. Class is size is limited to 4-6 students. Please bring safety glasses, wear 100 percent cotton clothing, and leather or cotton shoes.
